Nicole Ascensio

Nicole Asencio, Psy.D.,LMFT, is an EMDR-Certified Therapist, Consultant, and Faculty-in-Training with The Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy under the mentorship of Deany Laliotis. With over 15 years of clinical experience, she has supported individuals, couples, families, and children across both nonprofit and private mental health sectors. Her expertise includes attachment issues, relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, and trauma, with a strong commitment to creating safe and supportive spaces for healing for clients from all backgrounds.

For over five years, Nicole has supervised trainees and associates, providing guidance rooted in relational presence and clinical clarity. She is known for her ability to help clinicians and clients alike deepen their understanding of attachment, trauma, and healing through connection.

Nicole has devoted much of her career to deepening her expertise in evidence-based, relationally grounded modalities. She is intensively trained in attachment-based models, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), as well as advanced EMDR trainings. She integrates mindfulness, meditation, self-compassion, and parts work into her practice, supporting holistic and lasting healing. Her specialties include trauma, attachment injuries, disconnection, infidelity, loss, and anxiety.

As the Founder and Owner of Asencio Family Therapy, a practice rooted in healing through connection and growth, Nicole brings compassion, attunement and depth to therapy, consultation, and training. She creates spaces where safety and authentic connection foster growth, healing, and transformation. Nicole considers it a profound honor to walk alongside others as they share their most vulnerable selves and move toward greater wholeness.
