Does G-REP Make an Impact? Early Research Says Yes

A pre–post research study led by Mary Ray, LCSW, EEI, TEP Trainer and Senior Faculty at The
Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy, explored the effectiveness of G-REP (Group Resource
Enhancement Protocol) with a sample of American EMDR therapists. This was the first study of
its kind for G-REP.

G-REP is a gentle, group-based intervention that uses words and drawings to identify and
strengthen internal resources, without processing traumatic memories. Participants focused on
grounding, self-regulation, and building hope while benefiting from collective support and
shared resilience.

Results were promising. Pre-to post-intervention analyses showed a statistically significant
reduction in PTSD symptoms and severity, as measured by the PCL-5, along with positive
trends toward improvement in affect state and resilience.

Additional research with larger samples will likely show statistically significant changes in all
measures utilized. G-REP, a resource only protocol, statistically lowered the number and severity
of PTSD symptoms. G-REP is an effective, safe, and accessible resource-enhancement approach,
both for clinicians and the clients we serve.
