Why Choose Basic EMDR Training: Part I
- Flexible pacing – Train at your own speed, on your own schedule
- Immediate application – Start using EMDR skills with your current caseload
- Built-in support – Case consultation included for real-world guidance
- Proven expertise – Developed from 30 years of EMDR training experience
This is your first step toward mastering EMDR therapy and transforming how you understand and treat your clients.
What You’ll Learn in Part I: The Fundamentals
Part I is a three-day deep dive into the foundations of EMDR therapy:
- The Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model and how it informs treatment
- An overview of the 8 phases and the three-pronged approach of past, present, and future
- How to facilitate dual attention between past and present, keeping the client grounded
- How to identify clients on your caseload who may benefit from EMDR
- How to transition clients into an EMDR framework
We combine formal instruction with small group practice to give you a first-hand experience of EMDR memory reprocessing—from both the therapist and client point of view.
Why This Matters
Part I gives you the opportunity to:
- Get grounded in the fundamentals of EMDR therapy
- Prepare clients for their healing journey
- Learn how to connect past events to present difficulties
- Apply the standard protocol and reprocess early memories that are at the root of current difficulties
- Plan for the future, helping clients envision and respond differently in similar situations
Who Is Eligible?
You are—if you are a mental health clinician, licensed for independent practice and want to use EMDR with your clients. It's important that you see clients while you are in training so you can apply what you learn and ask for feedback during consultation.
- If you are not yet licensed, you must be on a licensing track under the guidance of a clinical supervisor.
- If you are a graduate student, you must have completed your core coursework and currently work in a practice setting.
- If you work at a non-profit or government agency and carry a full caseload, ask about our non-profit agency discount.
