Melanie Shapiro

Melanie Shapiro, LICSW is an EMDRIA-approved Consultant and certified EMDR Therapist in Washington DC. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work and an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. Melanie specializes in working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression and traumatic life events. Her prior experience includes supervisory and staff roles at The Viva Center, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and N Street Village. In addition to her EMDR training, Melanie received Neurofeedback training at EEG Education & Research Institute for Applied Neurotherapy and completed a certificate in Trauma-Informed Clinical practice.  Melanie enjoys mentoring newly-trained clinicians in EMDR therapy.
