Who We Are
The Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy is a training organization built on one belief: EMDR is a comprehensive psychotherapy, not a technique to be applied and set aside.
We offer training at every level of the EMDR journey, from a clinician's first Basic Training through the Master Certificate in Relational EMDR Therapy®.
Training with us also means joining a community. Our clinicians stay connected well past their last training day, through consultation groups, faculty relationships, and a network of peers doing this work alongside them.
Each level builds on the one before it, held together by the same clinical philosophy and taught by faculty who have trained deeply in it themselves.

Frequently asked questions
Does Deany Laliotis teach all of The Center's trainings?
Deany teaches a number of The Center's trainings directly, including select Basic Training cohorts, The Craft of EMDR Therapy, The Dance of Attachment, and Relational EMDR Therapy: Examining the Self of the Therapist. She also leads case consultation sessions and the monthly Q&A available to all Basic Training enrollees.
For cohorts she does not lead personally, every trainer and facilitator has been individually trained, mentored, and evaluated by Deany before they stand in front of a training cohort. Faculty members participate in ongoing case consultation with Deany as a condition of their role. The clinical philosophy, the standards, and the depth of approach are the same across every cohort, regardless of who is teaching it. This is what it means to train at a boutique, faculty-driven organization. You are learning from people who have gone deep in this work, with Deany, and who are held to the same standard she holds herself.

How does Deany Laliotis select and train the faculty at The Center?
Every trainer and facilitator at The Center has been personally trained, mentored, and evaluated by Deany Laliotis before they teach in a training cohort. Faculty members are drawn from clinicians who have completed The Center's own advanced and Master-level trainings and who participate in ongoing case consultation with Deany as a condition of their faculty role. This is not a network of independently credentialed trainers — it is a community of clinicians who share the same clinical philosophy and are held to the same standard of depth and rigor that Deany brings to her own teaching.
What is The Center's approach to teaching EMDR therapy?
At The Center, EMDR therapy is taught as a comprehensive psychotherapy — not as a protocol to be applied or a checklist to be followed. That distinction shapes everything. It means teaching clinicians how to think in terms of the Adaptive Information Processing model, how to make informed clinical decisions in the moment, how to be present with a client who is processing something painful and unfamiliar, and how to bring the therapeutic relationship to bear as a clinical instrument. Opportunities for personal reflection and professional growth are built into every level of training, because Deany believes the self of the therapist is not incidental to EMDR therapy — it is central to it.
Where does The Center train clinicians?
The Center's regular training schedule is fully online, delivered live via Zoom to clinicians across the United States and internationally. Occasional in-person trainings and events are offered outside the regular schedule. Follow The Center on Instagram or join the newsletter to be notified when in-person opportunities become available.
