  • Two courses: The Dance of Attachment and Examining the Self of the Therapist
  • Both contribute toward the Master Certificate in Relational EMDR Therapy®
  • Led exclusively by Deany Laliotis, LICSW

Beyond Symptom Relief, Into the Relationship Itself

Master Training is where The Center's training philosophy reaches its fullest expression.

By this point, you already know the protocol. You have practiced the eight phases, sharpened your case conceptualization, and worked with complex presentations.

Master Training asks a different question: what happens in the relationship between you and your client that makes healing possible at all?

This is advanced training in Relational EMDR Therapy® — the framework Deany Laliotis developed over decades of clinical practice, which treats the therapeutic alliance not as background rapport but as a central, strategic part of the treatment plan.

It is designed for clinicians who are ready to do the most demanding and most rewarding work of their professional development.

Two Courses, One Certificate Pathway

Master Training consists of two courses. Both contribute toward The Center's Master Certificate in Relational EMDR Therapy®, and each stands on its own as a complete training experience.

The Dance of Attachment

This training positions the therapeutic alliance as a central, strategic component of treatment — not incidental rapport, but an active clinical instrument.

You will take a deep dive into the three primary components of the therapeutic alliance — goals, tasks, and the attachment bond between therapist and client — and learn how to use the relationship itself to help clients build a more secure sense of attachment in real time.

Examining the Self of the Therapist

A portion of this training is reserved for individual work, where you bring a real challenge from your own practice into a safe space among peers who share your values and your years of experience.

The central question this training asks is not "is the client ready," but "are we ready to embark on this journey together." You leave prepared to answer yes.

A note on sequencing: The two Master courses can be taken in either order,
and most clinicians complete both to earn the Master Certificate.

"We work on ourselves so we can bring our highest self to the journey with our clients. The question we must ask as relational EMDR therapists is not 'is the client ready?' but 'are we ready to embark on this journey together?' Master Training prepares you to answer: yes, we are ready."

— Deany Laliotis, LICSW

Who Is Eligible?

Master Training is open to any licensed mental health clinician who has been actively using EMDR therapy with clients who carry complex trauma, and who is ready to do personal clinical work alongside fellow experienced practitioners.

It is required that you have completed The Craft of EMDR Therapy and at least one Advanced course before beginning Master Training.

"As an EMDRIA Consultant, I appreciate how Deany's trainings are grounded in the fidelity of the AIP model and the EMDR method, while supporting a holistic approach to psychotherapy. The attachment lens integrates seamlessly into the EMDR framework. I feel rejuvenated and inspired as a clinician and a consultant after this experience."

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to take both Master courses?

Both Master courses contribute toward the Master Certificate in Relational EMDR Therapy®, and most clinicians pursuing the certificate complete both. Each course is also a complete, standalone training experience if you are interested in only one.

Does Master Training require The Craft of EMDR Therapy first?

It is strongly recommended but not strictly required. Master Training assumes the level of case conceptualization and clinical interweave skill that The Craft and Advanced Training build. Clinicians who arrive without that foundation often find the work more challenging to access fully.

What is the Master Certificate in Relational EMDR Therapy®?

The Master Certificate is awarded by The Center to clinicians who complete both Master-level courses along with additional requirements. See full Master Certificate requirements →

What makes Master Training different from Advanced Training or The Craft?

Advanced Training and The Craft build clinical skill and case conceptualization. Master Training shifts the focus to the therapeutic relationship itself and the self of the therapist — including dedicated time for personal clinical work alongside peers. It is the most experiential and personally demanding level The Center offers.

Who teaches Master Training?

Both Master courses are taught exclusively by Deany Laliotis, LICSW, the developer of Relational EMDR Therapy®.

What trainees say about Training at The Center

#incredible training | #going to change the course of my clinical practice | #I felt supported | #I was absolutely blown away | #my facilitators were INCREDIBLE

"The Craft of EMDR Therapy was a transformational journey, both personally and professionally, and raised my expectations of what’s possible in my work with clients with complex trauma.
Deany and her team clearly explained and demonstrated how to take the practice of EMDR therapy to a new level, to help clients become less identified with their adaptations, and more appropriately oriented to their here-and-now experience. The portion of the training that involved personal work was probably the most powerful part of the process. The effectiveness of this work has been evidenced by the significant progress of my clients since taking this course, particularly those clients with whom I previously struggled.
Deany Laliotis is an exceptional trainer and therapist, and beautifully demonstrated how the process of EMDR therapy can go beyond symptom relief, to become a life affirming and joyful process for both client and therapist."

"Any trainer can present material, but Deany Laliotis’ trainings are more of an experience. She not only is knowledgeable about the material, but she engages the audience by being personable, asking thought provoking questions, and spends the time making sure we get it. Though she is a thought leader in the EMDR community, she makes you feel like a peer, and connects in ways I have not experienced in other trainings. At my last training people flew from all parts of the country to attend, and we were all eager to take another training with her. If you are serious about advancing your skills as an EMDR therapist, train with Deany."
Bryon Bratt, LPC

"Run, do not walk, to Deany's next training! As a newly certified EMDR therapist, I have been actively looking to integrate my clinical skills into my work using EMDR. While there are many trainings out there, none have resonated with me so deeply as Deany's approach. It just makes sense to me now. Learning EMDR is often described as akin to "drinking from a fire hose." It's an accurate assessment, I think, but learning from Deany has helped tremendously in bringing more clarity and focus, and has renewed in me a sense of excitement for the work. I can't wait to learn more!"
