How We Teach EMDR Therapy

At The Center, EMDR therapy is never taught as a protocol to be applied and a checklist to be followed. It is taught as a comprehensive psychotherapy — one that requires clinical judgment, deep case conceptualization, and the ability to be fully present with a client who is processing something painful and unfamiliar.
That philosophy runs through every level of training we offer.
In Basic Training, it shapes how we introduce the AIP model and why we build more practice time into the curriculum than EMDRIA requires.
In Advanced and Master-level work, it becomes the center of gravity — exploring the self of the therapist, the therapeutic relationship, and what it means to accompany a client all the way through.

Basic Training -
Where Your EMDR Practice Begins

Basic EMDR Training is EMDRIA-approved and structured across two parts — Part 1 (three days) and Part 2 (five days across two segments).
Together they cover the complete foundation of EMDR therapy: the Adaptive Information Processing model, all eight phases of treatment, case conceptualization, bilateral stimulation, interweave strategies, and the clinical decision-making that makes the difference between using EMDR and using it well.
Basic Training is offered as a full bundle (Part 1 and Part 2 together) or as individual parts, allowing you to structure your training and payments over time.

Advanced Training -
Deepening What You Know

Advanced training at The Center is for clinicians who have completed Basic Training and have worked with EMDR in their practice long enough to know what they still need to learn.
Our Advanced Training courses approach EMDR therapy through specific clinical lenses — attachment theory, the AIP model in complex cases, early intervention for recent traumatic events, and the art of navigating the moment-to-moment unfolding of a reprocessing session.
Each course stands on its own, and together they build a comprehensive advanced skill set.

The Craft of EMDR Therapy

The Craft of EMDR Therapy is offered twice yearly and occupies a distinct place in the continuum.

This training is the next level for clinicians who treat complex developmental trauma. It is a deep immersion into the full scope of EMDR as a psychotherapy, designed for clinicians who are ready to move from applying the model to mastering it.

Structured across two three-day sessions with time between them for clinical integration, The Craft combines conceptual depth with intensive guided practice. You will work through detailed case studies of clients with complex presentations, develop greater command of clinical interweaves, and practice under the direct guidance of experienced faculty.
The Refresher course is included at no additional cost.

Master Training -
Relational EMDR Therapy®

Master-level training at The Center explores territory that most EMDR training programs never reach — the therapeutic relationship itself, and the self of the therapist who shows up to it.

Both Master courses contribute toward The Center's Master Certificate in Relational EMDR Therapy® — a credential that marks a depth of clinical integration few training programs offer.

You will walk away with a better appreciation of how to be there with our clients in a way that allows them to "go there" with us, making for a transformative experience for therapist and client alike.

Case Consultation -
The Work Between the Work

EMDR case consultation is where clinical integration really happens. It is the space where you bring a case that has you stuck, or a reprocessing session that went somewhere unexpected, or a conceptualization question you have been holding since the last training.
The Center offers individual and group consultation packages for clinicians at every stage of their EMDR practice — from newly trained therapists building confidence to experienced practitioners preparing for EMDRIA certification.
All case consultations with The Center are led by EMDRIA-Approved Consultants™, who are active members of The Center's faculty.

Questions Clinicians Ask Before Registering

Q: Who is eligible for Basic EMDR Training?

Basic Training is open to licensed mental health clinicians — including LPCs, LCSWs, LICSWs, LMHCs, and psychologists — who are currently seeing clients. Clinicians on a licensing track under supervision are also eligible, as are graduate students who have completed core coursework and are working in a clinical setting.

Q: Do I need to complete Basic Training before registering for Advanced or Intensive courses?

Yes. Basic Training is the prerequisite for all Advanced, Intensive, and Master-level trainings at The Center. If you completed Basic Training elsewhere with a different EMDRIA-Approved program, you are still eligible — feel free to contact us before registering so we can confirm eligibility.

Q: How is The Center's Basic Training structured?

Basic Training is delivered in two parts. Part I is three consecutive days. Part II is delivered in two segments — three days (Part II-A) and two days (Part II-B) — approximately four to six weeks apart. The full training spans approximately six months. It can be purchased as a bundle for a discount or registered in parts.
Please keep in mind, you must complete both parts within 12 months to be eligible for EMDRIA certification.

Q: What is the difference between Advanced Training and Intensive Training at The Center?

Advanced Training courses focus on specific clinical topics — attachment, AIP case conceptualization, recent trauma protocols — and are designed for clinicians who want to expand their clinical knowledge and repertoire. Intensive Training (The Craft of EMDR Therapy) is a deeper immersion combining conceptual depth with extensive supervised practice. The Craft also serves as a gateway to Master-level training.

Q: What CE credits do The Center's trainings carry?

Most trainings carry both general CE credits and EMDRIA CE credits. R-TEP and G-TEP carry EMDRIA and NBCC credits only. Specific credit hours are listed on each individual training page.

Q: What is the Master Certificate in Relational EMDR Therapy®?

The Master Certificate is awarded by The Center upon completion of both Master-level courses — The Dance of Attachment and Examining the Self of the Therapist — along with additional requirements. It represents a high level of training in Relational EMDR Therapy®, Deany Laliotis's framework for applying EMDR through a relational and attachment lens.

Q: Can I register for trainings as part of a group or agency?

Yes. The Center offers agency discount codes for group registrations. Contact us at admin@emdrtherapy.com to discuss group pricing before registering.

Q: What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms vary depending on how far in advance you cancel and which training you are registered for. Full policy details are available on the Cancellation Policy page. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to admin@emdrtherapy.com.

"I can’t wait for my next training with The Center. I always feel that I learn cutting-edge material that greatly enhances my clinical skills. Deany Laliotis is a superb clinician and trainer who has an amazing ability to integrate theory and practice in a way that makes complicated concepts understandable. Deany's liberal use of video footage allows us to see these concepts being applied by a master therapist. I feel resepected and empowered when I train with Deany and her staff."
