Jeanne Martin, LPC, is an EMDR psychotherapist and an EMDRIA-approved consultant in private practice in Charlottesville, Va. She previously had a private practice in Northern Virginia for 20 years. In addition to being an EMDR therapist, Jeanne has trained extensively in Neurofeedback and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. She likes to incorporate somatic interventions into her EMDR work as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS). Additionally, her training as a martial arts instructor for over 40 years, sensorimotor psychotherapy, and mindfulness training allows her to see the importance of the mind-body connection. Jeanne’s areas of expertise include PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and treating simple, complex developmental and attachment trauma.
Prior to her psychotherapy career, Jeanne worked for 18 years as a research analyst in the Department of Defense before returning to school to become a psychotherapist. She started her therapy career at the National Counseling Group (a dual diagnostic treatment facility) and as a counselor at West Springfield High School in Northern VA working with at-risk teens. She began her own private practice in 2002. Jeanne’s educational background includes a BA in Psychology from the George Washington University and an MEd. in counseling from Virginia Tech.
Jeanne has experience and enjoys working with newly-trained EMDR clinicians.
