Lisa Garcia

Lisa Garcia, LCSW-C is a private practice EMDR psychotherapist working with adults and adolescents in Olney, MD, a DC suburb. Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from The Catholic University of America and received her master’s degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Social Work in 1997. Since that time, she has worked as a social worker with diverse populations in a variety of settings including outpatient community mental health, continuing care retirement community, and a medical hospital. Lisa was trained in EMDR in 2016 with Dan Merlis and has been receiving additional training and consultation from Deany Laliotis since that time. She is committed to using EMDR psychotherapy to help her clients heal from prior wounds and to strengthen adaptive ways of relating in relationships and responding to life challenges. She specializes in treating simple, complex developmental and attachment trauma as well as traumatic bereavement. Lisa has received formal EMDR training in R-TEP and G-TEP, she is a member of EMDRIA, certified as an EMDR Therapist and EMDR Consultant. Lisa provides group and individual consultation. She enjoys mentoring newly trained clinicians in EMDR therapy as well as those who are more experienced.
