An Upscaled Refresher Course
This one-day refresher course is for clinicians who have already completed the Basic Training in EMDR Therapy and want to brush up on the essentials of the model.
We will take a broader view of EMDR as a psychotherapy and how the standard protocol as well as other specialized protocols and techniques are part of the clinical repertoire of the EMDR therapist.
We will review the AIP model and how that informs our case formulation and treatment planning, as well as go over the procedural steps so it’s more second nature to you. How and when we modify the standard protocol as well as accentuating what is positive will be discussed as we take a bigger picture view of treating the whole person beyond the remission of their symptoms.
There will be plenty of time for discussion and review of actual client sessions to deepen your appreciation of the transformative power of EMDR therapy to heal trauma.

I’m Deany Laliotis, the Founder & Director of The Center. I am passionate about the power of EMDR therapy to transform lives. Since 1993, I had the privilege of working very closely with Dr. Francine Shapiro, the originator of EMDR, and was mentored by her until her death in 2019. I was the Director of Training for EMDR Institute Inc., the program developed by Dr. Shapiro that trained clinicians all over the world in EMDR therapy. We trained thousands of EMDR therapists over the years in this comprehensive approach to healing trauma. My vision has always been to offer a continuum of trainings from Basic to Masterclasses, which is what The Center currently offers. Target Audience: This training is appropriate for doctoral‑level psychologists and other independently licensed mental health professionals.
Course Description
This refresher course is designed for clinicians who want an update on all things EMDR – the model and the method, to include some special protocols as well as an in-depth review by studying a real clinical case with video footage. We’ll update you on the research that is relevant to your practice as well offer a working understanding of the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model and how that informs case conceptualization and treatment planning. The three-pronged approach and the eight-phase treatment model will be elaborated throughout the day so by the end of this course, you’ll feel ready to go with your clients!
Learning Objectives
- Describe the Adaptive Information Processing model of EMDR therapy
- Identify the components of the Three-pronged Approach to EMDR therapy
- Identify at least one reason for using the Standard Protocol of EMDR therapy
- Identify at least one reason for using the PTSD protocol for EMDR therapy
- Identify at least two reasons to use an interweave strategy during reprocessing
Identify at least three characteristics of an appropriate negative belief about the self

Refund Policy: Tuition is refundable up to 30 days in advance, less a $75 administrative fee. If you cancel within 30 days of the training date, the balance less the administrative fee, will be applied as a credit towards a future training. A request for cancellation must be submitted in writing by email to admin@emdrtherapy.com. If you must withdraw once the training begins, there is no partial credit or refund. The Center reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the training at its discretion and will either credit one’s tuition towards a future training or offer a full refund.
