When you work with complex developmental trauma, you walk a tightrope—balancing the relational demands between you and your client while navigating the many challenges that arise along the way. How we relate to our clients and their presentation is an integral part of how a session unfolds, both in and out of reprocessing, for better and for worse.  We’ve built in the time, support and safety you need to continue your own healing journey so you can bring your best self to this work. As we all know, we can only take our clients as far as we can accompany them.

Take a Deep Dive Into Self.

We all have our own unique journeys that call us to this work.  And as part of the path towards becoming a therapist, we are beckoned to heal our own wounds so we can heal others. We ask our clients to be brave.  We, too, must be brave.  We ask our clients to tolerate the unknown.  We, too, must embrace uncertainty.  We ask our clients to trust the process.  So, we, too, have to let whatever happens, happen.  And there's more.  It's the WE of the relationship that creates the conditions that make it possible for our clients to 'go there.'  As we work with our clients on memories of the past, we make new memories with them, moment to moment, working intersubjectively as we use our experience of them to help them come into their own, perhaps for the first time.

Dig Deep. Expand Your Capacity as a Healer.

The therapeutic relationship is central to the work we do. Focusing on what unfolds between us as well as what comes up for the client is central to this training. It includes opportunities—through learning, clinical cases and personal work in practice sessions — to deepen your therapeutic presence and develop your capacity for using your own experience to help your client discover who they are. We will explore:

  • Using attunement and resonance to track the unspoken communication between us and our clients
  • How to work with the congruence between the interpersonal and the intrapersonal
  • How to distinguish between empathic identification and empathic differentiation
  • Understand our personal themes and how the confluence between our histories and our clients' can lead us into an impasse
  • How to facilitate developmental repair and moments of meeting both in and out of reprocessing

This is a Journey of Discovery—Both Personal and Professional.

We’ll explore together what it's like to work with some of the most challenging clients and discover how they can also be the most rewarding. We’ll work on ourselves so we can bring our highest Self to our work every day. When we are consistently present as our best selves in the moment with our clients, we are most able to help them navigate the uncharted emotional territory between themselves and others.

Here's what your colleague has to say:

I attended this training in person as a Master Retreat and it was a professional game changer for me. The opportunity to grow, both in my clinical skills as well as garnering a deeper understanding of myself as a therapist, was priceless. The emotional and psychic space to be in my own struggle and to appreciate that I was not alone in it was truly transformative. I really learned that healing the healer is a requirement if we are going to be present to our clients' suffering in the way that's needed. The "icing on the cake" were the personal and professional connections I made during this time with other like minded clinicians, some of whom I am still connected with today! This is an investment in yourself and your career that is 100% worth it.
